About Nimphil Paul

A life built around music, persistence and growth.

Nimphil Paul, the professional name of Paul Chacha Aboka, is a Kenyan singer, songwriter, music producer, digital creator, and artist & catalogue manager born in Kisii, Kenya, on 13 March 2004.

His musical journey began during primary school. He was transferred from Faith Christian Academy to Global Academy in Kasarani, Nairobi, where he studied from 2011 to 2018 and completed Class Eight. Choir sessions gave him an early space to sing regularly. He was so drawn to music that he sometimes found himself singing while he was supposed to be studying — moments that occasionally got him into trouble with teachers, but which he now sees as part of the beginning of his musical path.

In 2019 he joined Itierio Boys High School, where he studied until completing high school in 2022. School choir, music festivals and drama festivals expanded his musical limits. He studied music, became a violinist, learned piano and developed a deeper understanding of music creation, performance and musical structure.

His approach

For Nimphil Paul, music is an art and its quality matters more than fitting neatly into a single category. He listens widely and appreciates music when it is musically well created.

“I write what I'm going through because I believe music is best when one is writing the heart out.”

His songwriting is therefore closely connected to lived experience, emotion and the desire to turn real moments into music.

The Journey

From choir sessions to an independent creative career.

The story of Nimphil Paul is less about one sudden breakthrough and more about years of learning, experimenting, responsibility and continuing to create. His first studio recording came in 2022 with a song called “MY CHUMMING.”

2011–2018

At Global Academy in Kasarani, Nairobi, after transferring from Faith Christian Academy, Paul completed his primary education and became deeply involved in singing and choir. His enthusiasm for music was already impossible to ignore.

2019–2022

At Itierio Boys High School, school choir, music festivals and drama festivals widened his exposure to music. He studied music, became a violinist, learned piano and developed his understanding of musical creation and performance.

2022

Nimphil Paul stood in a recording studio for the first time and recorded “MY CHUMMING,” after years of freestyle, singing and vocal experimentation. This marked an important transition from practicing music to recording it professionally.

Since 2022

He has continued building an independent catalogue while working across singing, songwriting, production and digital creation. His music has been distributed across major streaming platforms.

Today

His focus includes developing his own music, helping make Gusii music more visible to wider audiences and continuing to grow into a more independent and capable creative. He has seven confirmed songs with more than one million Spotify streams. Through artist and catalogue management, he says he has managed 15 artists whose catalogues have each reached more than 10,000 monthly Spotify streams.

What keeps him moving

Nimphil Paul says his motivation comes from seeing a smile on the face of someone who genuinely needs his help. To him, success is not only recognition; it is becoming capable of helping others while continuing to grow.

“I'll keep going no matter what.”

Music

Music that fits the listener.

Nimphil Paul does not believe his music needs to be confined to one label. In his own words, he makes “what fits that one ear that always turns to it.” His approach is rooted in musical quality, feeling and honest songwriting rather than forcing every song into a predetermined category.

His first studio recording was “MY CHUMMING” in 2022. Since then, he has continued building an independent catalogue distributed across major digital music services. He currently has seven confirmed songs with more than 1 million Spotify streams, based on the streaming records he has confirmed.

Gusii Music

Building a new future for Gusii music.

One of Nimphil Paul's strongest ambitions is to make Gusii music more visible beyond its traditional audience. His connection to Gusii music is not simply about language; it is about showing what can be created when a local musical identity is treated with the same ambition, creativity and attention to quality as any other musical culture.

He wrote his first song in Kisii, “GUSII ENSE Y'OMWANDO,” which he describes as a major success in Kenya. The song later became part of a difficult chapter in his creative journey after he says it was taken and circulated by others. Rather than allowing that experience to end the journey, it strengthened his determination to keep creating.

The five-year vision

In the next five years, Nimphil Paul wants to achieve two things: help create a completely new style in Gusii music and become a top Kisii artist.

“I want a complete new style in Gusii music and to be the top Kisii artist.”
